This app gives the ability for teachers and schools to have access to their student’s iPads, iPods, iPhones, or Macs, controlling what their screen displays and the structure of their learning tools. “It seamlessly combines interactive presentation, collaboration, and real time assessment tools into one integrated solution.” The app provides many opportunities for the teacher to instruct the lesson including written work, fill in the blank, memory tests, slideshows, videos, virtual field trips, and SO much more. The app also includes assessment tools for both Formative or Summarize assessments, and the ability for the teacher to view and interpret the results. Application in Education: 1. The Nearpod app could be used in the classroom for a math lesson for grades K-12. The open ended question, poll, quiz, and draw it tools could all be used to show student’s learning and progress. The teacher could be going through a slideshow of information and pause to check for understanding with any of those tools listed above. If the results show there are students who are still struggling, the teacher would know exactly who it is and assist them before continuing. 2. The Nearpod app could also be used for a Social Studies lesson by utilizing the virtual reality tool. The students could “tour” the Anemone Reef and have the opportunity to see the beauty of the location without actually visiting. The teacher could take the project may different directions after this, including a quiz or a research project about the Anemone Reef. This tool opens so many doors for the teacher to guide their student’s learning outside the classroom. |
